“They are in negotiations” – Fabrizio Romano now shares major update out of Arsenal

Journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that Arsenal and manager Mikel Arteta are negotiating a new deal.

Under the Spaniard, the Emirates have seen a transformational few years as he has led them back into the Champions League and very almost to their first league victory since 2004.

The Gunners trailed league champion Manchester City by only two points in the previous campaign. This was a big improvement from their previous campaign, where they were five points behind their opponents in their maiden championship challenge under Arteta.

Arteta and the new deal are “in discussions.”
Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, praised the fans as he took over the team for the first time at the end of 2019.
Talks on a new contract are reportedly happening between Arteta and the team, according to Romano. His current deal, which was signed in 2022 and is reportedly worth £9 million year and £173,000 per week, expires at the conclusion of the following season. Despite this, neither party is in a haste to agree on new terms because they are both at ease with the current state of affairs.

The reporter stated to GiveMeSport:

They are negotiating. There are talks, but neither party is in a haste or panicked because they get along so well and Arteta is thrilled at Arsenal.

“He was never having any talks with any club, and his only focus is on Arsenal’s project, even though he had connections to the Barcelona job in February and March.”

He joined Pep Guardiola’s coaching team at Manchester City in 2016 after he announced his retirement from football. Before going back to coach his old team, Arsenal, he helped them win two Premier League crowns, an FA Cup, and two Carabao Cups there.

Arsenal is discussing Lokonga’s loan transfer.
Sevilla, a Spanish team, wants him.

In other news, sources state that Arsenal and La Liga team Sevilla are negotiating a loan transfer for out-of-favor Albert Sambi Lokonga this summer. Despite having a contract with the Gunners until 2026, the 24-year-old has only made 39 senior appearances for the team.

Maximo de la Cruz Ramirez Ramirez, a local journalist, claims that while talks between the two teams are still underway, Sevilla and the player have already reached an agreement. The Spanish team is reportedly happy to cover the player’s whole €3 million salary, according to the article.

The sticking point, meanwhile, seems to be Arsenal’s insistence on tying any agreement they make with Sevilla to a purchase need. The La Liga team wants just an option to buy, but the Gunners want to make it a necessary purchase at the end of the loan.

Luton Town is loaning Albert Sambi Lokonga’s 2023–24 statistics.

In 2021, Lokonga made his debut for Arsenal against Anderlecht in Belgium. He has been on loan at Luton Town in the Premier League and Crystal Palace most recently.
